A message from Alex Burns, Chair of Governors.

As the Governing Board of Old Park School we are all passionate about providing the very best for all the children and young people we are privileged to educate. The provision we are responsible for includes the pupils, the building, the outside areas, the resources and staff who work at the school.

We are responsible for overseeing the financial stability of the school, making sure it is a safe and pleasant environment for pupils and staff and providing the children with a stimulating and age appropriate curriculum, helping everyone to enjoy learning. As a special school with highly complex children we also ensure our pupils are well looked after and cared for and their medical needs are met.

The way we do this is by having regular committee meetings on a termly basis in order for the governors to learn about. monitor and challenge in a supportive way, all that is happening in the school. These meetings include Personnel, Finance, Curriculum, Premises and Health and Safety. We also hold a Full Governing Body meeting at the end of each term which brings together all that has taken place and been agreed in the committees.

We are all volunteers with a keen interest in the special needs of the children as many of  us are parents of special needs children and young people. 

We know how important it is for parents to feel they can trust the school to look after and educate their very special children.
