We have put together a 'Parents and Carers FAQs' which we hope will provide additional information about how school is planning to open to a wider group of pupils during the Covid19 period. I have also attached a copy of the individual risk assessment that school will be completing for all pupils for whom parents expressed an interest in them attending school before the summer holidays (including all key-workers). If after reading the FAQs you no longer wish for a risk assessment to be carried out for your child, please notify school as soon as possible on email@example.com or leave a message on the school answerphone 01384 818905.
Many thanks, Jodie

Update plans for reopening to wider group of pupils.
- We have written our whole school risk assessment and in line with Local Authority and Union advice, this is currently out for consultation with staff.
- We have also written our individual pupil risk assessment. This is currently with the Local Authority health and safety team. Once approved, this will be sent to all families, alongside a list of FAQs. Class teachers will be completing the risk assessment for each pupil for whom parents have expressed an interest in them returning before the Summer. We will then contact parents with the outcome of this assessment. Where we are unable to offer provision at this time due to increased risk, we will work with other agencies to look at what support can be offered.
- Full PPE including masks have been ordered for all staff. We are awaiting delivery.
- 4 classrooms have been identified for use - all soft furnishings, and resources which are difficult to clean have been removed.
- Signage has been put up around school.
- The school has been deep cleaned.
We are continuing to work in a systematic, cautious way ensuring everyone is kept up to date at each stage - our school community matters and we want it to be as safe as possible when pupils and staff return.
Thank you for your continued support.

Good afternoon all,
Quick update in regards to the transport letters that I know many of you have received. We are currently working with the local authority to try and ascertain what evidence they require in support of the application/review. I will be back in touch once I have some information.
Take care, Jodie
16th May 2020
Good afternoon all,
We have had 135 out of 154 parent surveys completed to date.
17% (23 pupils) of parents are happy for their child to be considered for a place.
11% (15 pupils) would be happy for their child to be considered if certain safety measures are in place. These include PPE and testing.
18% (24 pupils) will not send their child to school on 1st June.
35% (46 pupils) will not send their child to school before the summer holidays.
3% (4 pupils) will not send their child to school until there is a vaccine.
13% (17 pupils) are currently shielding.
I will be contacting any parents who have not completed the survey over the next couple of days.
Take care, stay safe.

As a school the safety of our pupils, families and staff is our priority. The guidance issued this week from the Government and DfE in relation to allowing larger numbers of pupils to return to special schools is extremely limited. We are currently working with other Dudley Special Heads and the Local Authority to try to get clarity and clear answers around the many questions that we currently have. It is apparent that detailed individual pupil risk assessments will need to be carried out before we can decide what provision we can or cannot offer. In order to get a snap shot of how parents are currently feeling, we have been asked to put together this questionnaire. I feel it is important to reassure you that we will not be issuing any fines to parents who choose to keep their child at home. If you have more than one child at school we would be grateful if you could complete this form for each child. Best Wishes, Jodie.

Just to reassure all of our families that as soon as I have any information about schools reopening to all pupils then I will be in touch. I have been made aware that there is some misinformation circulating within our school community about school reopening for the last two weeks of the school year. There is currently no date set. This will be reviewed in line with any announcements made by the government. Teachers will be calling all families this week to carry out an updated risk assessment.
Best Wishes, Jodie

Just to let you know that class email addresses are now up and running. This is a way to share some of the fantastic things that you are doing as a family with your child’s class teacher. Please note these are not monitored daily and parents should use the main contact details for anything that needs dealing with more urgently. Many thanks, Jodie.
Please also find information from the Educational Psychology service below.

Just a quick update to let you know that school continue to work in partnership with our health colleagues during this time. When school closed, I met with the nursing team to look at who would be best placed to keep in contact with families – we don’t want to bombard you with lots of similar calls. School and health discuss any issues or concerns daily and so please rest assured that we haven’t forgotten about you. If your family is in contact with one of the nurses but would also like a call from a member of the class team, then please just let us know.
Our contact details are below -
School office: 01384 818905 (answer machine monitored Tues/Wed/Thurs)
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org - This is monitored daily by a member of the Senior Leadership Team
We are aware that some of our families will be beginning Ramadan. Please let us know if there is a day or time that is better to contact you.

At 14.47pm I received notice that the DfE have confirmed that any children with medical conditions including a learning disability should be exercising social distancing and therefore should not be in school. Unfortunately this definition encompasses our whole school population. We will therefore be closed indefinitely to all pupils from tomorrow (19/03/20). We understand that this will cause anxiety for many of our families and we will therefore be in contact shortly with contact numbers and suggestions for home learning. Staff will be available in school tomorrow to deal with any phone queries. Thank you for your continued support, Jodie.

Massive thank you to our families from Middle phase who came to support our 'SMILE around Europe' event today. Old Park is part of the Barry Carpenter SMILE project which focuses on socialise, move, interest, learn and engage. My thanks also go to Mr Wiggin and Middle phase staff for organising the event and also Del from DPA for being our 'busker'.
Pupils from across school have also attended the Easter dance festival at Stourbridge town hall today. They have been working with students from Windsor High over the last couple of weeks. It is always a privilege to hear about how fantastic our pupils were and how they were true advocates for Old Park School. Thank you you to Mrs Cairns and all of the staff that supported today's event. My thanks also go to our families who bought tickets and went along to support.
03rd February 2020
We have had a really busy start to 2020. This term we are trialling a whole school theme focusing on 'Earth Warriors'. Classes are learning about how we can protect and take care of our school, local community and the wider planet. We are looking forward to hosting our Enterprise event on the 13th February, where we shall showcase our produce.
Don't forget FOOPs 'Rags 2 Riches' collection - please drop off any items between the 9th to 16th March 2020.

Many thanks to all of the families and friends who visited us last night for our FOOPs Christmas fayre. We hope you had a very festive time. Thanks also to all of the staff who helped. Once we’ve took expenses off we think we have made about £350- £400 pounds last night, added to the £1450 for singing hands and hopefully £1000 from match funding. All the hard work was most definitely worth it!

Fabulous start to the Christmas events at Old Park School with Singing Hands!
19th November 2019
We are really lucky at Old Park to have such a fantastic forest school. Even in the colder months our children and young people are outside exploring all that nature has to offer. This can sometimes mean we get very wet and muddy! With this in mind can parents please make sure that your child comes to school with a winter coat and has a set (or two!) of warm spare clothes including underwear and socks and a pair of wellie boots please.
If anyone has any spare clothing, wellie boots or waterproofs that you no longer use then we would happily take them off your hands.
Many thanks for your support
15th November 2019
It was great to see lots of our pupils and staff supporting Child in Need today. Thank you for your contributions. We will let you know how much we raised when the final pennies have all been counted.
In other news, Class 1 have had a great time today taking part in table cricket. We welcomed back to Old Park Liam Bendall from Worcestershire Cricket Club. Liam is the cricket development coach at the Club and they have offered free coaching for 6 afternoons as an enrichment opportunity.
Look out for the letter in your child's bag this evening telling you all about our fundraising election being held on the 12th December 2019 to link with the General Election which is taking place on the same day. A copy can also be found at https://www.oldpark.org/newsletters/

Dear Parents and Carers,
We have certainly had a rather busy start to the new school year! Classes are working hard to settle pupils into their new groups and routines. You should have received a copy of the curriculum newsletter and a copy of your child's timetable will be sent out once its been finalised by the end of the week.
It has been a pleasure to meet some of you in school already and I look forward to meeting others over the coming weeks. I am keen to hear from you if there are aspects of school life that you think could be improved or changed - please do get in touch.
In the meantime 2019-2020 term dates and Autumn events have been updated on the website. We are also currently updating school policies and guidance. Make sure that you check back regularly to ensure you are fully up to date.
